Impact Analytical, an emerging star in the contract analytical testing arena, is applying its industry-leading technical expertise and experience to an important new endeavor: Earth Impact, a series of certification standards developed for various product classes. Earth Impact-certified products provide consumers with confidence that the product was manufactured with an environmental conscience and a commitment to sustainability.
Earth Impact standards are rigorous testing protocols that include the following:
• A full product deformulation identifying and quantitating all major and minor components
• Analysis for known carcinogenic compounds, as determined by the Organic Consumers Association
• Analysis for lead, mercury, arsenic and other heavy metals
• Analysis for known endocrine disruptors
• Verification that the product is free of eutrophic agents (<0.5% phosphorus)
• Testing to verify the product is not combustible
• Characterization of the product packaging to ensure that it is recyclable
Only products that meet meticulous Earth Impact standards will be granted use of the Earth Impact logo for product labeling. Annual recertification of each product will be required to ensure product formulations have not changed.
